Winterburn, born on March 25, 1966, in England, spent the majority of his professional career with the Gunners, making a total of 483 appearances between 1987 and 2000. He is best known for his tenacious and consistent performances as a left back, earning him the nickname "The General" among Arsenal fans. Winterburn's Arsenal career began in 1987 when he made his debut against Everton in the FA Cup. Over the next 13 years, he became a key player for the team, helping them win numerous trophies including the League Championship in 1991, 1998, and 1999. He was also a crucial member of the "Invincibles" team that went undefeated in the Premier League during the 2003-2004 season. Off the field, Winterburn was known for his leadership and professionalism. He was appointed team captain in 1996 and led by example, both on and off the pitch. After retiring from professional football in 2006, Winterburn continued to be involved with Arsenal.
