MG C Type - A Glimpse into the Thrilling World of 1930s Motor Racing
EDITORS COMMENTS
. This print takes us back to the exhilarating JCC Double Twelve race at Brooklands on 8th and 9th May 1931. The image captures FM Montgomery and R Hebeler, both skilled racing drivers, standing proudly beside their powerful MG C Type car. With its sleek design and roaring engine, this classic automobile was a force to be reckoned with on the racetrack. Unfortunately, fate had other plans for Montgomery and Hebeler during this particular event. Despite their initial hopes for victory, they were forced to retire on the first day due to a broken piston that occurred at precisely 2:35 p. m. Nevertheless, their determination and passion for motor racing remained unwavering. Brooklands Motor Racing Circuit in Weybridge, Surrey provided an iconic backdrop for this thrilling competition. Known as one of Britain's most prestigious racing venues at the time, it attracted motoring enthusiasts from all over England. In this snapshot of history captured by renowned photographer Bill Brunell (WJ), we witness not only the excitement of motorsport but also glimpse into the world of mechanics like Roland Hebeler (RSS). These unsung heroes played a crucial role in keeping these magnificent machines running smoothly amidst intense competition. Today, thanks to images like these preserved by Heritage Images in collaboration with National Motor Museum archives, we can appreciate the beauty and nostalgia
