EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from 1858 showcases the picturesque landscape of Greenhill, Norton. The focal point is Lot 15, a charming farmhouse nestled in the heart of the village. Adjacent to it stands a quaint cottage, exuding rustic charm. Surrounding these dwellings are various outbuildings including a barn, stable, and other structures that add character to the property. Moving further into the frame, we encounter Lot 16 - five expansive closes of land on Greenhill Moor near Lowedges. These vast stretches of excellent land offer endless possibilities for farming or other ventures. Grozy Row can also be spotted nearby, adding an element of historical interest. Lot 17 comes into view next; three close pieces of land located on the south side of the Turnpike road leading from Greenhill Moor to Norton. Known as Norton Lane, this area boasts its own unique beauty and potential for development. Finally, Lot 18 captures our attention with Birchett Moor - a sizable piece of land situated in Dronfield parish. This plot adjoins the turnpike road connecting Sheffield to Chesterfield and features an attractive frontage terminating at Nags Head Public House. Surveyed by T. D Jeffcock from Sheffield City Archives in meticulous detail using a scale ratio of 4 chains:1 inch; this historic document provides valuable insight into the region's past
