EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the north side of the magnificent Great Hall at Trecarrel Manor, located in Lezant, Cornwall. The exact date of this early 16th-century hall and domestic chapel remains unknown, but it was originally constructed for Sir Henry Trecarrel. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the construction was left unfinished in 1511. The historical significance of this site is further highlighted by its licensing as a chapel in 1405 - a testament to its religious importance within the community. Sir Henry Trecarrel himself played a prominent role in local affairs; he served as mayor of Launceston not once but twice, in 1536 and again in 1543. Over time, the Manor House has undergone extensions during the 17th and 18th centuries while retaining its original charm and character. Today, it serves as a functioning farm that stands as a living reminder of Cornwall's rich architectural heritage. Although we are unable to credit a specific photographer for capturing this remarkable image, their work allows us to appreciate the intricate details and grandeur of this historic manor. This photograph provides an intriguing glimpse into Cornish history through listed buildings such as Trecarrel Manor - showcasing both religious architecture and traditional manorial structures that have shaped Cornwall's cultural landscape throughout centuries past.
